Turkey Cordon Bleu Caserole Recipe

While my brother was in Iraq, he sent me this Turkey Cordon Bleu recipe that he wanted to try. I was a little surprised because he didn't like poultry before he enlisted in the military.

I took the recipe on a test run and it was good! If you're counting calories this is not the recipe for you. Something this good is worth every single calorie. Ingredients

2 cups cooked ham, cubed

4 cups cooked turkey, cubed

1 cup shredded Swiss Cheese

1 large onion, diced

1/3 cup butter

1/3 cup all purpose flour

1/4 tsp dijon mustard

1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

1 3/4 cups milk

Topping:

2 cups soft bread crumbs

1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese

1/4 cup melted butter Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 2 quart baking dish. Saute ham in a non-stick skillet until browned. Drain, pat dry.

Layer ham, cheese and turkey in baking dish and set aside.

Melt butter in skillet, place diced onion in skillet with butter and saute until onions are tender, almost transparent. Stir in flour, nutmeg and mustard until smooth and blended. Gradually stir milk into mixture. Bring to a boil, constantly stirring for 2 minutes or until thickened. Pour over layered meat and cheese in baking dish.

Mix bread crumbs, cheese and butter together. Sprinkle mixture over top of casserole. Bake, uncovered for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
